Standard 2: Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and how to teach it to students

Evidence1: keeps current in the subject matter and executes lessons that demonstrate knowledge of the most recent strategies, methodologies, terminology and concepts in the field

Context: Word wall using recent vocabulary within the course
Reflection: The word wall is an actual wall I painted black at the start of the year. Painting it black it acted like a chalkboard and I felt it added a nice creative touch to the room. As I introduce new terms students are eager to get a chance to draw the vocabulary word of their choice on the wall. These buzz words are common in the art content area.
Goals: I feel the word wall could be more useful if more attention was brought to it. Maybe for extra credit points to define all the words, or competitive games could be created out of the word wall.

Evidence2: Uses a variety of resources and technology to deliver content and develop basic and higher level thinking skills.

Context: The picture on the left has a LCD projection displayed. The picture on the right shows a student using photoshop
Reflection: In both lessons students get excited to try new assignments outside of paper and pencil.

When using the LCD projector I simply displayed students LIVE feed of them working on their edible color wheel. Before they ate and enjoyed their wheel they saw their peers on a slideshow.

Even though the school I currently teach at doesn’t offer graphic design class I find it important to be up with the 'times' or even ahead. In the photo to the right I have a young student manipulating their original drawing into a logo for their final design.

Goals: I hope to be able to have more resources for all students to use at once. That way I could teach all students not just a select few.

Evidence3: Involves students in discovering the relationships among concepts, theories and the outside interests of students

Context: picture of international day where students were able to come together and make one piece of art together.
Reflection: This was a great day for me and my students we shared our backgrounds and learned more about others. Students were proud of their work.

Goals: To do this type of assignment more often and not just for international day

Evidence4: Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and how to teach it to students/ Presents information in the lesson accurately and appropriately for the grade level

Context: Standard posted on the worksheet along with the DCPS pacing guide

Reflection: I dont want the assignments I give my students to be too 'easy' nor too 'hard' So I am sure to follow the DCPS pacing chart. this chart as been very helpful for me.

Goals: to share the pacing guide with the students
